Whoever may be the ruler, I lose nothing thereby....

The great show of the great Indian democracy is on. Every one is waiting for the conclusion. Every one is curious about the end. Will it be a happy ending or a tragic ending ?As we know the three scenes are done and all of us are waiting for 16th May, when finally this play will come to an end and the mystery of 15th Loksabha will be solved.
At the same time another drama is going on in South Africa by the name of Indian Premier League. There was a time when South Africa used to remind us about Mahatma Gandhi, but in this summer it is being remembered as the country where IPL is being held as the first play took the stage because of security reasons. Most of us are watching this play live on our television set. The mystery of this drama, will be solved on 24th at 8038.34 kms away from Delhi in Johannesburg.

Now consider the situation in India....these two plays are keeping the whole Indian public, in terms of Indian politicians, AAM ADAMI (common-man) busy. Everyone is reading,discussing,forecasting..in short is trying to solve the mysteries. But we all know mysteries can't be solved like this. The ends will show us who have won and who is going to get the titles.
Consider, if we ask someone, in these two plays which is more important? Which needs more importance and thought than the other? Most of us think that the answer should be elections.

But something surprises me. Although most of us will answer for election but I am not seeing the same in reality. In my campus I am surprised to see the situation. I am a seeing everyone, talking about IPL and analyzing each and every part of the game. But election, I don't think anyone is even bothered to think about that. For them it's a dirty Indian politics from which they should be as far as they can. They can curse Arjun Singh for his new-new methods to destroy education system but when it comes to election, they are not going to even think, who is going to win.
I remember a line from Ramcharitmanas 'कोऊ नृप होऊ हमहीं का हानी, चेरि छाडी अब होब की रानी. (Whoever may be the ruler, I lose nothing thereby; for shall I cease to be servant and become a queen now?)'. It was said by Manthara to Kaikayi when she was persuading for exile of Rama. Now the same line I think is being said by most of intellectual janta in the country. I would say as this line cuased the suffering for whole Ayodhya, I think if this attitude our intellectual Junta continues, our democracy and democratic systems are going to fall and no one will be able to save them.

The Real Challenge Comes Now...

I don't need to tell about Rohit Kumar's death and what happened after that. We all know what happened and how it happened. It's one of most unfortunate incident that I have ever seen in my life and and whatever followed after that, I hadn't expected that from both the students and authorities. I am not asking that the reaction and actions taken just after Rohit's death were not justified but I would say whatever has happened at director's house was completely wrong and some students were acting without thinking. But that is a matter of discussion and everyone has his own thoughts, opinions.
But now when so many things have taken place....one of our friend is not in this world, director has resigned(although his resignation has not been accepted till now),DOSA has resigned and there is a series of meetings going on on both sides..authority and students, I would say that in all these things we should not forget our objectives.

I will quote what a faculty member said in a class-
"Rohit's death was a very sad incident and whatever has happened after that should not have happened. After this we are targeting B.C.Roy hospital, but it is not the only thing in which something wrong is going on. As this time something big has happened that's why we got to know about this B.C.Roy Hospital. So whatever has happened was really sad and this type of thing should not happen in future. But this incident should lead to some constructive and reformative steps. Students should not use their energy only toward BCRoy. Now time has come to make a proper plan, identify and solve all the problems otherwise something worse will happen in future and we will be in same situation."

I think whatever he has said is correct word by word. Now the real challenge is to channelize the student energy towards the solution of problems.

We should not forget that last year during NSS camp Anshu Gupta had died in similar condition. At that time also many promises were done but we all know what happened. What was done that authorities ordered all 1st year students to submit a medical form in which all the tests had cost around Rs.10000. I don't think even after that a proper data base has been made and even if it has been made seeing the functioning of system,I don't think it would be used at proper time. So at this time our main focus should be solutions ,proper & sustainable solutions.
Although this time the situation is not the same and everyone in campus is taking interest in the happenings following the incident. And also at authority level many decisions have been taken and I think they are more serious than they ever had been.(Seeing this I am even astonished at the fact that such reaction/matters didn't come earlier. We immediately forgot about Anshu's death. I don't know why student representatives didn't take that matter like this. If they would have taken that matter seriously and had the proper steps taken, we could have been able to save Rohit's life. )

I hope that we would not forget this incident in same manner like Anshu's death. No matter what happens we would do each and everything possible so that Rohit's death doesn't go in vain.

We are different.......????

Evey creature on this planet has the origin from the same superpower....that is, for some people GOD, for some the nature, for some the universal processes.I don't want to comment on anyone's faith. But no one will deny that we all, have the same source of origin. Then a simple but I think a big question arises what is, that makes us different from other creatures on this earth.

I think this question is the basis of all the philosophies about human life. And I am not the first or the only one thinking on this question. From the very early days of existence our ancestors have been thinking on this subject. And at present also....there are many people who are thinking on the same. But as it is very rare to have same face for two persons, it is also very difficult to have the same thoughts on a topic for two different persons. That's why every one explain a topic according to his own views. And I think this non matching of thoughts is a great thing because this fills our thinking tank with variety of ideas which is the very essential for the development of human being.

Once one of my friend said that if the problem is same then the solutions will be same. Then what is the point to have different thinking. Ultimately we will reach on the same point. But..... what you think..... Is this right??? I tell you what I answered..... I said that even before Newton the apple used to fall downward not upward. But no one paid the attention to this. They thought that its a natural phenomenon. No one before Newton thought that instead of falling downward why the apple didn't go upward. It was the Newton who thought. It was the Newton who on the very simple thing, that is for people was of no importance, thought and give a new idea that shocked the world, that changed the ideas about the universe of whole world. That's why I think that that everyone's idea is very important and this the difference in the thinking which has made entire human race so developed.

Now let's go to the topic for which I have written this article. Any where in the world when discussion about the difference between humans and other living creatures has been started we have got so many points that I cann't mention all those in my article. And also I think that I have written this to express my thoughts not to tell that this & that has been thought by this or that.

We humans are very much proud of our greatness on other creatures.....but have we ever thought what this greatness is and how it has been achieved??? I think most of us never care about this topic. We just remember what we see around us......without knowing the fact behind it.
It is not the matter of this subject only......this...not knowing the fact behind things has become our habit. So I think we should see things around us in depth so that we can understand the real meaning behind them.

Now.....what is the real difference between humans and other creatures?? Is this the feeling, structural difference, wisdom.or something other??? I think we are different not because of wisdom,feeling..or any similar thing. We are differnt from others because we want to progress which other creatures don't want. Its the progress that has made us so much different from others.

But one thing I want to add that this progress should not be blinded one.We should take care that the progress doesn't cross the limit .Otherwise ther will no reason on this planet to make us different.

Do We Know.....???

All of us want to be successful. But question is that if we know what is success. Do we know what we have to do? I remember audition of a TV series in which the judges were asking what do you want to be in life. Most of the participants answered that I want to do something big but they failed to describe what big thing, they want to do and how they are going to achieve this big thing. That's the way this is with most people. Actually we don't know what we want to do and what we have to do.

One day one of my senior said me-"Do you know why we feel so much pressure here(it means IIT KGP)?". I really couldn't answer. Then he said simply that problem is in us. Actually we don't know what we want from our future. So we believe simply on what other people say & do what other people do and finally at a point in life we regret that we have chosen wrong path. If anyone knows from the very 1st year(he means the 1st yr of one's academic life in KGP) that what he has to do then he will never feel pressure because then he will be knowing what he has to do & what not. He said that I am still confused what I have to do so I try here every thing.

I think what he said in perspective of our life at KGP, is also true in general. I think in place of just thinking to be successful we should think what we can do and what we should do. Only then we will be able to understand what is success.Only then we can decide our path to success. Otherwise we will just wander here and there and will copy others in search of success. And finally in which we will just get an unsuccessful life. Actually we don't know what we want to do and what we have to do.

different...differentiation??

One day my teacher, VIKAS Sir, asked me-" Ashutosh! Do you want to be someone special ? Someone different from others." At first I couldn't understand. Why is he asking this? I replied affirmatively. I said-"Yes, I want to do something big in my life but not like Osama or Bush." You know...what he said after that??
What he said, really surprised me. I couldn't answer further. But what he said was really amazing and a real truth. He said to me when you say that you want to be special or extraordinary then actually you are insulting others by saying them ordinary or not special which is not fair. Actually when someone try to differentiate himself/ herself from others then actually his total life goes in this process of differentiation and ultimately he never get satisfaction. He/She never find himself/ herself different and so his complete life goes in unrest. He further said that in life our development happens so gradually that we never notice any change in ourselves unless we sit and think about our lives 10-20 years before. And this satisfaction also, lasts after few minutes of thinking. So he said that we should try to do things in best manner we can but not for being extraordinary. He said as two electron cannot be in same state, similarly two persons are always different.
When I had answered his question I didn't mean that from being special. I simply meant that I wanted to do best that I could do. I have found that many people don't utilize the opportunities ahead them. In my life I have done this many times but I want to stop that. I have thought of a life for myself and I want to use all my strength and available opportunities to get that. Really I don't want to be special. I just want to be able to do what I think to do. But I think what he understood about me, was wrong at least at present but his every word, he said after that was right. I think it was possible that in future I might have tried to differentiate myself from others, but now everything is clear to me. Thank You........Vikas Sir.

SINGUR........What happened??... the same bengal phenomenon

I am at present doing my B.Tech. from IIT Kharagpur. After qualifying III-JEE I got a branch of my interest in IIT Kharagpur and so I joined IIT Kharagpur. I would frankly say that in the beginning I had never thought to join IIT Kharagpur mainly due to its location in a semi urban area. And the second reason of my unwillingness to join this institute was its situation in West Bengal. Most of you will wonder that I was unwilling to join the most prestigious engineering institute of our country only because it is in West Bengal. I want to make it clear this was neither due to language problem nor I have some personal problem or bad experience with people of Bengal. The main reason of this was that I and most of my friends have a thinking that Bengal, inspite of its bright past, is such a state which is going downwards. Bengal is not ready to leave some of its old and unnecessary political, social culture which in present world is not logical. Everyone who wants to bring some change in this structure, have to face a hell of lot of difficulties and in most of the cases these voices of change have been depressed. This was the feeling in us and that's why all of my friend joined other IITs. As my rank was not good enough to get desired branch in other IITs I joined IIT KGP. But thank god our campus is not like the rest of West Bengal.

Now see what happened in Singur. I think this project was in favour of the development of West Bengal. But the same Bengal phenomenon.......the same type of protests and now the NANO project is gone. The same thing has been happening for years in Bengal.
For the first time a communist government in India decided to take some decisions which could attract some industrialists. Now communists also feel that development cann't be achieved without indusrial development and in this open market sysytem we should be liberal to industrialists so that they can compete with others. They don't show because that may destruct their image of a party fighting for poors. But for the first time a communist government in India dared to show courage to take some liberal steps towards industrialisation. But this time not the communists another party took the torch and the result is same.
Anyone can say why we are so much shouting about a specific project. The right of farmers should also be protected. But see the events happened at Singur. I agree with that the right of farmers should be protected, but what has happened in Singur is not that. It's just a political fight. Unfortunately this is the case with whole India that political parties without any logic and thinking goes against a project, just by manipulating their own political profits.
The first mistake was done by government by not formulating the correct plan for land acquisition and then when project was about to complete these protests started that brought an end to it. I think it is completely farmers' right what they do with their lands. But what has happened at Singur is more than that. A whole political force has worked to make this protest to happen. This was not only the protest by farmes but it was a planned fighting between two political centres of West Bengal. As West Bengal was giving a good message to industries, this incident has destroyed all its efforts for creating a good image. The state has already a image of a STATE OF STRIKES AND BANDHS and now this incident. Any state cannot progress without industries and this should be felt by every one.
We need politicians who can think beyond their political profits. The failure of Singur project is not going to give good results to anyone, not even to the farmers. What will happen to those farmers who were not fighting and have given their lands? And also what about the lands? Will that be in same condition as before? Could this problem not be solved ealier? Will the closing of this project is going to help anyone except a political party? What will happen to investments planned by other industrialists in the state? Will they invest with same zeal as before? They may drop their plans. Will that help the state and people of West Bengal?
WHO WILL ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS?

TERROR........Is there any solution??

"63 killed in Jaipur.....serial blasts in Ahemdabad.........now the capital Delhi........new methods of attack......new targets and again a new group....terrorist are finding new ways, areas and sources to attack.......our government is helpless to do anything....our agencies are idle and useless... how will it stop??..."

These are the lines on the mouth of every Indian. These are the thoughts going in minds of every Indian. Are we safe? Can anyone, not only in India in the whole world, say confidently that there can be no attack here? He is completely safe. I am pretty sure the count will be ZERO. Every one is living in an atmosphere of fear. There can be attack anywhere, anytime. An endless war is going on in the world. A war in which waring factions are not defined. Who is fighting against whom ? What is the reason of this war? No one is able to understand and everyone is helpless. No country is in a positions to stop this. Then, what is the solution? How can we stop it? The measures which are being taken, are they sufficient?

If we think about the objectives of terrorist attacks, we will find that its only to disturb society in one or other way. They also know that what they want can not happen. The world can not go back to middle age. Even then they do because they are just some corrupted mind and they just want to show the world that the people like them are present. They want to live in their own illusion of changing the world according to their own rules and parameters. They always run from the reality. Their targets of attack are common people and things related to them because they think through this they can change the world, through this they will be able to force the world to follow their path.

Security is one of basic amenities for a person to live. It is a fundamental right of a person to live peacefully without any disturbance from anyone. Without this there can be no development of a person and so of the society. That's why security system is on top of terrorists hit list. Attack on security system generates a general feeling of fear which is their utmost objective. And then comes the attack on the economy. If economy is going to be unstable, it means development rate is tending towards zero, which is their second priority. Although it is true that they can not stop development but surely they can affect its process. They have got some success in affecting the way in people used to live live. Like before it is not some kind of agitation. Now it has become like a war between civilized and uncivilized world. Although they are not going to win this war but they are now affecting the thinking. They are polluting the culture. Many innocent people are being killed. They are able to get some success in creating an atmosphere of fear

Everyone thinks that it is responsibility of government and the society to provide this security. But we should not forget government and society is made of us. We are the governments and we are the society. I am not saying something very ideal. If you think then you will find it is true. It is reality. If we want to stop all these terrorists then we will have to take step on individual basis because without us this cannot be done. Terrorists cannot attack without the help of local people. Terrorists cannot have their activities done without man power and some who join these organizations, are some of us. They are not aliens. They also come from this society. If you see the recent terrorist attacks, they were very planned and some very educated people were involved in that. Educated people, who have taken education in our society and who had lived like us for many years, why they became terrorist suddenly? I will say that it is fault of our society. There is something seriously wrong with our society as some of most educated and talented minds who can give something creative to society, who can help in taking the world to new era are becoming terrorists. Instead of taking the world to new era they are trying to pull it back to middle age. Some very few extremist are being able to misguide young minds. They are able to spread their thoughts in society and to make environment poisonous.

We need to take stronger steps at each and every level if we want to stop these terrorists. Government cannot stop it on its own. We all will have to do our part in this. We will have to identify the sources of these activities. Government should take care that any terrorist and extremist could not escape. They should be punished strictly. Besides these government should also take strong move towards other countries which are supporting terrorism. Every external source should be closed and every person helping these terrorists must be punished and detained strictly. Government should make a strong fear of law in everyone's mind. But as I said earlier government cannot do all these on its own. We will have to help at each and every level. As our bright young minds are being misguided by these people, we need to stop this. We need to spread a message to youths that all these are wrong by any way you think. The leaders of every religion should take the responsibility to stop the misinterpretation of their and religious beliefs. Our education system should be designed such that it can teach the true meaning of religion and humanity since his very childhood. Our fundamentals should be deep and strong so that no activist be able to convince any one to participate in these terrorist activity. We will have to make a society with deep fundamentals of humanity so that no one even ever try to temper it.
